Smiles by Farrah Orthodontics, helping dispel rumors about braces

OK, so there are a lot of myths and half-truths flying around these days when it comes to orthodontic treatment. Dr. Farrah Agahi and our team know that. But, before you buy into those myths, we think you should get the facts first! Our pals at the American Association of Orthodontists have some excellent information on the myths and facts about orthodontics, and we encourage you to check them out before settling for rumors about braces!

If you have any questions about orthodontics or your treatment at Smiles by Farrah Orthodontics, feel free to give us a call at 512-634-8254.

We hope you have a great rest of your Memorial Day weekend! See you soon!

Dr. Farrah wants to know: What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?

With Memorial Day right around the corner, it's almost time once again for Americans to pay tribute to the servicemen and women who died protecting our country. Memorial Day weekend also happens to be the unofficial start of summer, and for many kids in Austin, getting out of town for three days with parents after being in school for nine months is sweet, sweet relief.

At Smiles by Farrah Orthodontics, we know Memorial Day weekend is also ripe for travel. After all, summer is a time for vacations, adventures and great memories with parents or friends. We'd like to know: What are you up to this Memorial Day weekend? What will you be doing on your day off from school or work?

Whether you are headed to a barbecue, a camping trip, or hitting the open roads of Texas with your family, we’d like to hear all about it! Enjoy the long weekend if you're not scheduled for an appointment this week with Dr. Farrah!!

May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month! From Dr. Agahi

Did you know May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month? At Smiles by Farrah Orthodontics, we know that kids living an active lifestyle can - and do - improve their health, productivity and overall well-being.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has provided these public health guidelines for your reference. The guidelines call for children and teens to exercise for at least one hour each day of moderate intensity physical activity (such as playing sports or brisk walking) or one hour and 15 minutes of vigorous activity (jogging, dancing and jumping rope).

Dr. Farrah Agahi and staff always encourage our patients to stay fit by exercising or participating in sports. However, we also want to remind you to always wear a mouth guard or other forms of facial protection when playing sports this spring and summer. To learn more about how often your child should exercise, we recommend you check out this series of helpful articles about kids and exercise, courtesy of our friends at KidsHealth.org.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
